D.U.I. Laws enforce strict laws and provide harsh penalties on both alcohol sellers and their patrons. In America, it is legal to sell alcohol to customers who then drive. However, the amount you can drink or serve before being over the limit depends on many factors including the strength or proof of the alcohol, the amount poured or drunk, the speed at which your stomach absorbs the alcohol, the correct amount of calories needed to assist the absorption of the alcohol, and to some degree - your own body weight.
These factors result in drinkers who can only roughly guess if they are within the legal limit to drive a vehicle.
